Job Summary

Nehslo Animation Studios is building a vetted Freelance Compositor Pool for upcoming animated and mixed-media productions. This pool will serve as a curated network of compositors eligible for project-based engagement across original IP, episodic series, short-form content, and client productions.

Position Description

As a Freelance Compositor, you will take the elements the production has built and assemble them into a finished, cohesive image. You’ll work closely with Directors, Animation, and Post teams to ensure the final picture reflects the visual intent of the production from first frame to last. Duties may include but are not limited to:
1. Compositing animation, backgrounds, effects, and lighting elements into final scenes
2. Maintaining visual consistency across shots and sequences
3. Integrating VFX, particles, and stylized effects within the production’s established look
4. Collaborating with the Director and Art Director on final image quality and color
5. Delivering finished shots in formats compatible with Nehslo’s post pipeline

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven compositing experience on animated or mixed-media productions
  • Strong understanding of layering, masking, color grading, and visual integration
  • Ability to maintain shot consistency across a full production
  • Experience delivering finished shots to broadcast or distribution specifications
  • Clear and effective communication in remote, cross-departmental environments

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Proficiency in After Effects, Nuke, or equivalent compositing software
  • Experience compositing for 2D or hybrid animation pipelines specifically
  • Familiarity with color pipelines and LUT-based workflows
  • Background in episodic, short-form, or commercial animation post production
